De bloei van de Cercidiphyllum japonicum vroeg in het voorjaar (maart - april) bestaat uit onopvallende, witroze, vrouwelijke bloemetjes en bundeltjes van rode meeldraden (mannelijke bloemen). Vanaf oktober tot in het voorjaar hangen er lange, platte, bruine peulvruchten aan de Katsuraboom.
